Dennis’ Bio

Dennis Aldy is a camo and Carhartt wearing Southerner with a big heart for the family.   He is a husband, coach, teacher, and pastor. He is also the father of seven amazing kids and a grandfather to three.  Dennis presently serves as president of Turning Hearts Ministries, a ministry devoted to building Godly family relationships.

Dennis grew up in rural Mississippi and spent his boyhood years loving the outdoors while working on the family farm tending a large vegetable garden, caring for livestock and horses, and driving tractors.  In 1988, Dennis met his wife, Dara, while in college; they married later that same year.  Dennis earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Mississippi State University (nevertheless, he remains a huge Ole Miss fan – “Get’em REBS”).  After working in his field several years, in 1991, he felt called into full time ministry.

Soon afterwards, Dennis and Dara moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to attend Emmaus Road Ministry School.  It was there that the Lord burned in their hearts a passion for the scriptures and relational ministry.  In 1994, they moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to plant a ministry named, Servant Church.  13 years and 7 children later, they changed their mission to prayer and the name of their church to House of Prayer, Hattiesburg.  Having served in Mississippi for 18 years, they felt the Lord moving their family to the Kansas City area in 2012 to continue their ministry.

Their 25 years in ministry are marked with authentic relationship, a commitment to servanthood, and a passion for building up the family.  Today, Turning Hearts Ministry exists to help families embrace scriptural principles in their homes and transfer those principles onto the next generation.  Weekly, the Aldy’s invest their time pastoring a local church, coaching marriages and families, and mentoring young men and women.

The Aldy’s live as home missionaries to better offer their time to the couples and families who need them.  They do this by holding formal classes, scheduling personal one-on-one ministry, and offering practical application for implementing spiritual principles in the marriage and in the home.

Dennis passionately loves the outdoors and takes every opportunity to use his passion to disciple and inspire men. He believes one of the most effective ways to build relationship, learn a great work ethic, and gain valuable life skills is to get out on the land and do things together. Whether he’s building a fence, tending a garden, bush hogging a hay field, teaching an archery classes, or showing young men how to chop fire wood, you’ll find him happiest when he’s impacting families while sharing his love for the land.
